Teambuilding is a unique series of activities designed to enhance a team. The basis for these activities is called experiential education. In other words, the group will learn new skills and abilities by actually doing the activities together. Combined with an extremely novel setting and a group's willingness to learn and grow together, experiential education can have immediate and long lasting effects on a group’s development.
The activities are led by professional facilitators experienced in group dynamics, communication skills, and leadership development. Power Adventures, Inc. has been providing these experiences for over 22 years. Typically, a group will contact Power Adventures with specific goals in mind. Our staff then works with the group contact person to tailor a program or series of programs that meet the specific goals discussed.
Possible Group Goals Are:
* Increase trust levels within a group
* Explore communication issues the group may be experiencing
* Implement usable teamwork strategies to aid the group in decision making
* Practice support and the many facets of support
* Study how interdependence plays out in the group’s dynamics
* Evaluate problem solving skills
* Learn the paradox of surrender and the incredible power of surrendering
* Utilize the human resources within a group
* Realizing the power of a shared group experience and the long term effects of a shared experience
* Understanding the effect of having fun with group members
The activities are done outside on our specially designed teambuilding course. Group members need not be intimidated by the thought of doing an "obstacle course", or being subjected to rigorous physical activity.
No person will be forced at any time by anyone to do anything that they are not comfortable doing. We call that policy "challenge by choice." The activities are physical in nature, however, we typically say that they are no more strenuous than a heated game of table tennis. We operate all year round, and we provide high quality outdoor clothing to create an environment of safety and comfort.
After each activity, the facilitator will engage the group in a debriefing session. The goal of this session is to transfer the lessons from the activity to the group's goals. It also provides a way for group members to talk with each other. This transference of information is essential to achievement of long term goals.
Critical to a group's success is an open mind. Group members who do not possess an open mind can derail progress. Communication up front with group members is essential. Inform the group that this is a very unique and fun way to learn together. A waiver form and health history form must be completed by each group member.
